Hi I'm Samina Khan, I'm 30 years old and I run Blush Beauty. I am based in Huddersfield and I cover the West Yorkshire area for Bridal bookings.
As a child I remember playing with my mum’s make-up but little did I know that I would become a beautician one day.
On special occasions she would apply a thick criss cross pattern on my palms using henna. Being a perfectionist I would wash the pattern off and painstakingly re-apply the henna using a match stick, (we didn’t have plastic henna applicators back then).
Her nail polish application wasn't to my liking either! As soon as she left the room I would put another layer of polish on to cover the bits she'd missed. I loved the nail polish dots she put on the backs on my hands, although I'm sure you'll be glad to hear I don't do this to my clients! It's a good job I'm the beautician and not my mum! (sorry mum, love you).
Years later I started applying bridal henna professionally. I then enrolled on the BTEC Beauty Therapy course at the Huddersfield Technical College in 2001. After qualifying I worked at Escape Beauty for Alison and then decided to pursue a mobile beauty business.
I now run my own beauty business from home and offer a mobile service for bridal parties.
